Canada Under-17 Men pose with the England South West divisional
Under-16 squad
Bristol, ENG
As soon as they arrived at the Coombe Dingle campus of the
University of Bristol, the Canada Under-17 Men’s Team was met by Mr
Keith Gee, England Schools Chairman, who helped them settle in to
prepare for the upcoming match.
The ground was dry and firm and the day was clear and very windy.
The England South West Division provided the boys with a great rugby
benchmark. The game was very fast and played at high skill level by
both sides.
The English boys were much better on the day running eventual
winners by 50 points to 14.
The Canadian players rallied in the second half and lifted their
standard of play resulting in two very good tries.
The first was scored after the forwards stepped up their aggressive
play and were rewarded by a great hard nosed effort by Jake
Morrisson, who carried three English forwards over the line.
Excellent play by the Canadian boys set up a five-metre scrum on the
left hand-side of the field. The tight forwards did a very good job
of providing a stable platform from which number eight Jake
Morrisson punched over for his second try.
The Canadian coaching staff was pleased with the effort of the
players and commended the English South West Division for their
excellent play. The team enjoyed the hospitality and the post-match
meal.
Jake Morrisson was named man of the match by the Canadian coaching
staff.
The players eagerly looked forward to their evening ice baths in
preparation for resuming their training Sunday at the Bristol Sports
Academy.
